3 models

Red Crystal series — P40, P60, P70

No water tank, no chiller, no separate wire feeder. Three models, 4 to 7 mm single-pass, all of it on a 220 V socket.

P40 handheld laser welder

P40

4 mm
Weight
29 kg
Cooling
Phase-change air
Wire feed
Built-in H300

The one most thin-sheet shops should start with. 4 mm on stainless, carbon and galvanised; 3 mm aluminium.

P60 handheld laser welder

P60

6 mm
Weight
33 kg
Cooling
Phase-change air
Wire feed
Built-in + external

The step up that most buyers underestimate. 6 mm single-pass covers most tank, frame and bracket work.

P70 handheld laser welder

P70

7 mm
Weight
39 kg
Cooling
Phase-change air
Wire feed
Built-in + external

7 mm from an air-cooled box. If your work is plate rather than sheet and you still need to move the machine, this is the ceiling.

Machine weights are the chassis as shipped. Add the gas cylinder, spool and torch for the working weight you will actually lift.

Single-pass penetration

The number that decides the model

Manufacturer figures on a fitted joint. Gaps, mill scale and coating all reduce these — ask for a sample weld on your material before you decide.

P707 / 7 / 7 mm5.5 mm4.5 mm3 mm

Brass and copper are supported as base metal at reduced depth. Copper above 1–3.5 mm is a different tool category; tell us the material mix before ordering.

Engineering

What you are paying for

01

Phase-change cooling, no water circuit

The heat goes into a phase-change module instead of a water tank and chiller. That is what lets a 39 kg box deliver 7 mm: no hoses to kink, no coolant to mix, no chiller to carry up a scaffold.

02

T-mode: +10% penetration, +30% at equal power

The manufacturer's figure for the upgraded T-mode is a 10% penetration gain, or about 30% deeper than a comparable unit at the same nominal power. It is a process improvement, not a power rating you can compare across brands.

03

Six-in-one, including the gas bottle

Laser source, wire feeder, torch, control system, outdoor power inlet and gas cylinder mount in one chassis. One person can load it in a van; two people can carry it up a stair.

04

152 simplified + 520 professional parameter sets

Two menu levels. The simplified set gets an operator welding in minutes; the 520-slot set is for a process engineer who wants to tune per material. Both ship on the machine.

05

Built-in dual-drive wire feed

The feeder is inside the chassis, driven by two motors, and stops the wire the instant the beam stops — the failure mode that causes most bird-nesting and misaligned seams on cheaper units.

06

IP52 sealed against shop dust

Dust and splash protected, which matters more than the number suggests: the wire feed path is the first thing to jam in a grinding shop.

What the data sheet does not tell you

  • 40 °C is the ceiling, not the target. These are air-cooled machines. In a Gulf summer, in an unshaded yard, expect derating on long seams. If your shop runs above 40 °C ambient, the Sapphire liquid-cooled line is the honest answer.
  • The 7 mm on the P70 is single-pass on a fitted joint. Gapped joints, mill scale and heavy galvanised coating all eat penetration. No manufacturer's table survives a 1 mm gap.
  • Brass and copper are supported as base metal, at reduced depth. The P70 does 4.5 mm brass and 3 mm copper, not 7 mm. If your work is mostly copper, tell us before ordering — a 1064 nm fibre laser is not the natural tool for it.
  • Single-phase 220 V is the whole supply requirement. That is a genuine advantage over the WSH industrial line, which needs three-phase from 5 mm up. It also means a 16 A circuit, not a 13 A domestic socket.
  • Consumables are the running cost, not the electricity. Protective lenses and copper nozzles are what you will reorder. See the consumables page for intervals.

Certification

What is documented

CEFDAFCCMD

Certificates are issued per model. The actual documents, with certificate numbers, are sent with the quotation for the model you order — ask and we send the files, not a row of badges.

Running costs

Consumables are the real cost

Protective lenses are the real running cost. Inspect daily, replace when spatter-damaged — under normal duty a lens lasts around three months, a copper nozzle around six. The torch has a slag channel that the manufacturer rates at +60% lens life, which is worth more than it sounds in a grinding shop.

FAQ

Red Crystal P40 / P60 / P70 questions

Which Red Crystal model do I need?

Pick by the thickest single-pass you actually weld, then take one size up only if the joint is usually gapped. P40 for 0.5–4 mm sheet, tanks and cabinets. P60 for 4–6 mm frames, brackets and structural tube. P70 when you regularly meet 7 mm plate and still need the machine to travel. All three are the same footprint apart from the P70's longer chassis.

Do I need a chiller or a water supply?

No. Phase-change cooling means there is no water circuit at all — nothing to fill, drain, freeze or leak. That is the main reason this line exists next to the Sapphire liquid-cooled machines, which are heavier but hold tighter thermal margins for 24-hour shifts in hot climates.

Red Crystal or Sapphire?

Red Crystal if the machine moves, if you only have single-phase power, or if your ambient stays under 40 °C. Sapphire if it sits in one place and runs all day, if you need past 7 mm, or if your shop is regularly above 40 °C. The trade is mobility against thermal headroom — not quality.

Can it weld aluminium and brass?

Yes, at reduced depth: 3 mm aluminium on the P40 rising to 5.5 mm on the P70; 2.5 mm brass on the P40 rising to 4.5 mm on the P70. Aluminium needs the matching wire-feed kit — Teflon liner and U-groove rollers — which we specify with the quotation rather than leaving you to discover it after delivery.

Is 220 V single-phase really enough?

For the whole Red Crystal range, yes — the manufacturer specifies AC 220 V across P40, P60 and P70. Have an electrician confirm the circuit can carry the machine's draw continuously; a domestic 13 A socket is not the same thing as a 16 A shop circuit.

How long is the warranty and what does it exclude?

Twelve months, optical consumables excluded. Failures caused by arc-welding interference on the same site are excluded — a real risk, because most buyers of a laser welder are also TIG users. Plan your grounding and physical separation accordingly.

Tell us material and thickness

One number and one material is enough for us to name a model — and to say so when the honest answer is a different line.
